Methyl P-tert-butyl Benzoate is a transparent and colourless liquid. It is an important intermediate for pharmaceutical chemistry and organic synthesis. It is widely used in chemical synthesis, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, perfume, flavor and medicine production. Methyl p-tert-butylbenzoate is also used to produce the sunscreen agent avobenzone (also known as Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane). Avobenzone is a high effective sunscreen, which can absorb UV-A. it can absorb 280-380 nm UV when mixed with UV-B absorbent. Therefore, avobenzone is widely used in cosmetics, which has the functions of anti wrinkle, anti-aging, and resisting light, heat and moisture.
